As the United States Surgeon General C. Everett Koop once said, “You're not healthy without good oral health,” because he, like dentists everywhere, understood that oral health is inexorably linked to our overall health. Poor oral health can lead to, or worsen, a host of diseases and conditions that are detrimental to our overall health. Likewise many common ailments can make sustaining good oral health more challenging. In this infographic we highlight this oral-systemic health connection and detail some of the ways deleterious oral health can lead to worsening health the whole body over.
